Post-Diagnostic Support: Autism

Our autism post-diagnostic support is tailored to the individual and their family’s needs. We take a neuro-affirming, compassionate, and person-centred approach, focusing on understanding strengths, differences, sensory needs, communication styles, emotional wellbeing, and daily functioning.

Support may include:

Understanding Autism

Helping individuals and families understand autism and how it may affect communication, sensory processing, emotional regulation, routines, social interaction, masking, anxiety, and burnout.

Support with Behaviour & Emotional Regulation

Many autistic individuals experience distress, emotional overwhelm, frustration, or behaviours that can be difficult to manage at home, school, or in the community. We work with families to better understand the reasons behind behaviours and develop supportive, practical strategies tailored to the individual’s needs.

Sleep Support

Sleep difficulties are common within autism and can have a significant impact on wellbeing and family life. We can offer guidance and practical strategies to help families better understand and manage sleep difficulties and routines.

Anxiety & Emotional Wellbeing

Support with understanding and managing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, school avoidance, low mood, self-esteem difficulties, and stress related to social or sensory demands.

Friendship & Social Difficulties

Support for individuals experiencing difficulties with friendships, social communication, understanding social situations, maintaining relationships, or feelings of isolation.

Parent & Family Support

Providing parents and carers with guidance, reassurance, and practical strategies to support communication, routines, sensory needs, emotional regulation, behaviour, and everyday challenges within the home environment.

Review

I just wanted to thank you, for all the support you have given me and my family over the last few months. A has been struggling so much with her emotional wellbeing and school attendance. As a family we were worried and felt a little lost. Siobhan, you have listened and validated my feelings, I have felt comfortable enough to be open up and be honest with you. As a family we felt a little anxious about A going through an autism assessment,  you answered our questions, and explained the process really well. We felt very supported throughout and although the assessment was emotionally tough at times for both me and my daughter, we felt comfortable and listened to. When it came to A's assessment, A was anxious, you soon made her feel at ease, by explaining what autism was, and making the assessment engaging and as fun as you could to make her feel safe. Following A’s diagnosis, we have continued to feel supported and thank you for all your kindness and understanding in what has been a difficult time.
